Packrobat was approached with a proposal from a worldwide car component manufacturing company, with the challenge to design and construct a large heavy duty processing machine with integral palletising, within one of its UK manufacturing sites
We had to provide a solution that included total electrical and mechanical design (excluding program), sourcing the third party supplier network, project management, assistance and oversee of the build on their premises to a point where the system was ready to accept production. The unit sits stand-alone from the main production areas, which has enabled the customer to process stock material into finished goods within hours of an order
Prior to implementing this, lengthy production runs on a single product type, meant that new orders could not be infiltrated or processed until there was a suitable gap in the schedule. It should now enable the business to win new clients / orders as the lead times offered can be considerably shorter
The next planned stage is to identify production faults by camera detection, which is to be interlocked into an automatic waste reject system
Albeit still being seen as test bed, it is hoped that some of the technologies employed can be repeated in other areas of the business, and maybe further systems installed within some of their other overseas facilities
